Carotid artery surgery, also known as carotid endarterectomy, is a procedure to remove plaque buildup from the carotid arteries. This surgery is performed to reduce the risk of stroke in individuals with significant blockages in these arteries.

Carotid artery disease occurs when the carotid arteries, which supply blood to the brain, become narrowed or blocked due to plaque buildup. This narrowing restricts blood flow to the brain and increases the risk of stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA), also known as a mini-stroke.

Varicose veins are enlarged, twisted veins that often appear on the legs. They can be blue, red, or flesh-colored and may bulge out from the skin. Varicose veins develop when the valves in the veins weaken or fail, causing blood to pool and the veins to stretch.
